Woman, know thy place

Posted by skiutah on Tuesday, March 26, 2013

This opinion was printed in the Salt Lake Tribune: Woman, know thy place

Here’s the text, this is classic:

I read “April Mormon conference may make history: women will pray” (Tribune, March 19) with great disappointment. I may be a male-chauvinist piglet to many women, yet the fundamentals of scripture are unchanging.

The Apostle Paul divinely stated in 1 Corinthians 14:34-35: “Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.”

Woman was created for man; this world was made for men to lead households and prayers. Man was created in God’s image — not in a woman’s image.

American society has become so politically correct that it has spilled over to theology. Women, as well as children, may sing in church and participate in other ways.

If Brigham Young were alive today, I’m certain he would denounce women overshadowing the proper sphere of men. The sexes have different roles.

LDS Black Priesthood Prohibition Still Smoldering

Posted by skiutah on Monday, March 12, 2012

Here’s an interesting article in the Salt Lake Tribune titled: Why is the LDS church denying past doctrine?

Indeed, 40 years ago BYU Professor Randy Bott would have received compliments from the LDS leaders for his 1970s era appropriate explanation for denying Blacks the priesthood. In 2012, Professor Bott is castigated.

And here’s a blog posting that contains over 100 references from Mormon prophets, leaders, and LDS canon associated with the Mormon Black priesthood ban doctrine: LDS Quotes on Black Priesthood Ban

It’s duplicitous for the current Mormon leaders to state the previous reasons given regarding the Black priesthood ban are nothing but folklore.

The Mormon leaders could douse this fire once and for all by admitting the Black priesthood exclusion was a racist mistake, apologize, and move on.

Note: We attempted to contact the brethren in Salt Lake City for a statement on this article. One general authority speaking anonymously would only say “the speed at which the Mormon church becomes more Christian mainstream is limited by the rate at which the older apostles die off.”

Mormonism: A shallow guide

Posted by skiutah on Tuesday, November 8, 2011

Funny article from the Denver Westworld News: Mormonism, a shallow but useful guide.

It explains, amongst other things, why BYU isn’t at top tier football team anymore, or why you shouldn’t fear or hate Mormons…

If I get prostrate cancer should I be able to sue the LDS church?

Posted by coventryrm on Thursday, May 19, 2011

Recent studies have clearly shown that men who drink coffee have much lower incident of prostrate cancer, being raised Mormon I didn’t start drinking coffee until I left the faith at age 35.   It is also known that having  a regular ejaculation is also beneficial in the reduction of prostrate cancer risk.   As a Mormon premarital sex and maturbation is strictly prohibited… double whammy for those faithfull LDS men following the doctrines of thier church.  No wonder Utah has a much higher rate of prostate cancer.

Sex Causes BYU Basketball to Implode

Posted by skiutah on Saturday, March 5, 2011

BYU officials have managed to destroy a dream basketball season that comes along once every 50 years. BYU decided to ban star player, Brandon Davies, for having consensual pre-marital sex with his girlfriend.

I attended and graduated from BYU. I lived in the dorms and the surrounding apartments for four years. There is a lot of pre-marital sex that happens at BYU. Think about it, you have 15,000 young males in close proximity to 15,000 young females. That adds up to a lot sex. It’s human nature, there’s no getting around it. Anybody who thinks otherwise has their head stuck deep in the sand.

BYU officials decided to make an example of one guy, a star basketball player, for having pre-marital sex. Why single him out and not all of the other thousands of young people doing what comes naturally for humans?

There are two factors working against this young man:
– He’s African American in one of the most racist cultures in America. (Older Mormons are highly racist, especially those born before 1978).
– He had sex with the wrong girl. His girlfriend is probably the daughter of a stake president or similar high ranking Mormon official. The father saw the color of this young man’s skin, and decided to raise a ruckus. So instead of giving Brandon a slap on the wrist (like they do to everybody else who engages in this act of human nature), they decide to kick him off the basketball team.

Way to go BYU, you’ve just dismantled your shining public relations basketball team. You’ve destroyed any future chance of recruiting top African American talent. This will haunt your athletic program for years. And for what? You’ve singled out one guy out of thousands to impose draconian measures, all for the wrong reasons. It’s too bad for BYU that more reasonable leaders didn’t intervene. BYU could have had something special this year. Even by Mormon standards, this behavior is dumbfounding.
